BROTHERS AND SISTERS, LET US CONTINUE TO DILIGENTLY PREACH THE WORD – NOT OUR OWN THOUGHTS OR OPINIONS (BECAUSE OUR THOUGHTS CHANGE), BUT GOD’S PERFECT WORD THAT SETS MEN FREE AND NEVER CHANGES. HALLELUJAH – PRAISE JESUS FOREVERMORE!
READ AND TEACH GOD’S WORD – NOT OURS!
Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.
1 Timothy 4:13
PREACHING THE FULL COUNSEL OF GOD – FULL TRUTH IN LOVE, EVEN THE PARTS THAT CONVICT AND CHALLENGE US! THEN, IN A DAY OF TROUBLE THAT ARISES, YOU’LL BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND THE TEST.
‘Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage–with great patience and careful instruction.’
2 Timothy 4:2
PRAY THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO PREACH AND WALK IN TRUTH DESPITE THE HARDSHIPS
‘And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains’.
WE MUST CONTINUE IN THESE TEACHINGS AND NOT SUPPORT FALSE TEACHERS
‘Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take them into your house or welcome them. Anyone who welcomes them shares in their wicked work’.
2 John 1:9-11
WE MUST TEACH SCRIPTURE (TRUTH), NOT IDOL WORDS, FUTILE TEACHINGS, CLEVER ANTICS, OR NON PROFITABLE SENTIMENTS.
‘Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. And their message will spread like cancer.’
2 Timothy 2:4-17
WE MUST BE PATIENT, LOVING AND ABLE TO INSTRUCT KINDLY, THOSE IN OPPOSITION
‘And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.’
2 Timothy 2:24-26
