"But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content."
1 Timothy 6:6-8 ESV
Contentment. A word that so few experience in reality.
It is always good to remind ourselves that we are sojourners in this world. Our home is of the heavenly kind, not the earthly. Therefore, we should not be too attached to this world and the things of this world. In fact, the bible says that if we have food and clothing (basic living standards) this should be enough for us to be content.
Humans were created to worship and glorify Jesus Christ, the Almighty God. Humans were not created to be materialistic and to selfishly gain and please their own desires.
Let us renew our frame of thinking and remember that Christ is all-sufficient in our lives for us to be content. At the very least, eternal life and fellowship with the Creator of all the universe should be better than all possessions in the world and eternal death. It doesn't profit a man to gain the whole world, yet lose his soul.
