“Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body”.
Each day we have the choice in how we are going to speak to people, and sometimes it can be a real struggle to be loving when we feel affected by something or someone in a negative way. However, with the Lord's help, it has been made possible.
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.”
Proverbs 10:11 says “The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.”
These two Scriptures in Proverbs tell us that our words should be words of life; making sure we are speaking to others in a loving and gracious way.
This is not only good for us spiritually, but it is a great example to those around us who are watching the way we conduct ourselves as Christians (Philippians 2:15).
We want to be a light in this dark world and not speaking words of death, but rather, speaking words of life (especially at times when it is difficult), that is the times when we are being a great witness to those around us. (Ephesians 5:7-14, Colossians 1:9-14 & Matthew 5:14-16)
God wants us to treat others with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
Let us pray He helps us to “set a guard over our mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of our lips.” - Psalm 141:3
Ask God to help us to only let words of life come out of our mouths, and rest in God knowing that He will help us to demonstrate this in our lives according to His perfect will.
