Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge. I say to the Lord , "You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you."
Psalms 16:1-2 ESV
Here, the psalmist pleads for God to preserve him as he understands that, only in the Lord is where refuge and protection lies.
The psalmist also recognises his place by acknowledging how God is Lord.
Finally, the psalmist points out how there is no good within himself. Only the Lord is good.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, here is what we can take from these two verses alone:
God alone sustains and preserves us.
God alone is the Lord.
God alone is good.
With these points in mind, let us continually cling to Him as we understand that there is nothing else that we can do but rely on His sovereign grace to sustain us in bringing glory to Him.
