Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.
But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.
Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.
2 Timothy 1:8-12
Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.
Our relationship with God is far more important than any other relationship we may have.
Eternal life is at stake.
I have had to face the fact of late that I was in desperate need of repentance. I had allowed pride and a critical spirit to enter my life, thereby blocking my personal relationship with my beloved Saviour. It was so subtle, I really thought I was doing fine, but when the Holy Spirit points out a sin, we have to deal with it. We cannot have fellowship with a holy God if we are entertaining sin of any kind.
The only way to restore that fellowship is to acknowledge our sin, confess it before God and repent of it, turning away from it and asking God`s forgiveness and help to overcome (Isaiah 59:2).
We cannot allow pride to hold us back from receiving His forgiveness.
He is an awesome and holy God and He demands our obedience and our honesty, with ourselves, as well as with Him. He helps us to maintain a holy walk with Him if we are willing and truly desire to please God above any other.
He will not force us He has given us a free will. He entrusts us to come to the realisation that we can do nothing without Him or apart from His goodness, which is leading us to repentance all the time. It is a walk of repentance as we so often fall far short of what He desires, yet it is He who works in us to do and to will of His good pleasure. We can't boast about any of it, it is ALL OF HIM!
We must all learn that we always need to remain humble before our holy God every day, in this way we will be pleasing to God. He is God, we obey!
Trust and obey, for there`s no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey!
