For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Philippians 1:21 ESV
This is one of my favourites verses!
This verse illustrates how we should see our own life and death.
Life: As one who has been redeemed by God's grace, being purchased by His blood, we live for Him.
Every moment of our day, every breath that we breathe, every word that we speak, every thought that we think should be for Christ. All our thoughts and actions revolve around pleasing our Lord.
Even in our deaths, God can give us the opportunity to glorify Him. This may look like witnessing to someone whilst on a deathbed or even being matryed. Regardless of how it may look, let us continue to live for Christ even until our final breath.
Death: As Christians we know that death is not something to be feared. Those that die go to be with the Lord for eternity where there is no sin. We can enjoy the Lord's presence forever and ever. How is that anything but gain for the Christian?
Certainly we can see that to live is Christ and to die is gain. Whilst we will still have breath in our lungs, let us live for Christ.
Christian, let us align our hearts to Philippians 1:21.
