There is great need in the church today for intercessory prayer. That need will never die down. It will always remain.
However, we must never forget that prayer is simply communing with the Lord.
A wife who speaks to her husband only when she is asking for things, (even if she is asking for something good) is not spending time to nurture her marriage and enjoy her husband's presence. It is the same for the husband, he cannot simply expect a great marriage if his only conversation with his wife is when he is asking for things.
Communing with God can be pouring our hearts to Him. Communing with God can be praising Him. Communing with God can be enjoying time with Him in our prayer closet. Communing with God can and should be more than petition and intercessory alone.
