And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
Matthew 24:14 ESV
The Gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ, is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. This will be proclaimed throughout the whole world before the end comes.
This text (as well as much of the text in Matthew 24) refers to the destruction of the temple of Jerusalem in 70 AD. However, there are many who believe that this passage contains a two-fold interpretation - meaning this prophecy relates to 2000 years ago as well as today. There are some who believe that once all the nations or majority of the world has heard the Gospel, the 'end' is imminent.
Regardless, and more importantly, rather than debating about the different theories of in what order events are to take place prior to the second coming of Christ, we need to ensure that we, ourselves, are ready for His return.
Are you ready?
