“Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.”
So much is shown to us in these verses on how we should be living our lives. In accordance to the above scriptures, our lives should consist of living for our Creator. (Romans 14:8)
We worship God not only with our lips but with our hearts by the actions we take each day. An example of this can be shown through the way we worship Him and with the way we conduct ourselves - as holy people living for Christ. (Matthew 22:37, Romans 12:2, 1 Peter 1:15-16)
Nowhere in the bible does it say that we can, or should, be living for ourselves. In fact, God makes it very clear in His Wword that we should be living for Him, and to do so, is to praise Him. (Romans 12:1)
Our worship to God can be through singing a Christian hymn, but it’s more importantly how we conduct ourselves as Christians each day.
Sacrificing for God is to also sacrifice for others. Jesus has led a great example in scripture showing us how to be the greatest servant when He came in the flesh.
In order that we live our lives being a servant for others, we must first ask God to humble us. Let God break down the pride that our flesh has so that we can be the sacrificial servant that He has called us to be.
We should be sacrificing the things in our lives that we may want to do and instead, choosing to go and do something for someone else, e.g. share the gospel with someone or choosing to spend our time for ministry reasons etc. However that may look in your life, this is what it means to have sacrificial love.
What a great example of God’s love this is to those who are lost and need to know Christ.
I pray that God helps you to walk according to His ways - being the humble and sacrificial servant that He has called you to be.
