The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them, And the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose;
It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice,
Strengthen the weak hands,
And make firm the feeble knees.
Say to those who are fearful-hearted,
“Be strong, do not fear.
A highway shall be there, and a road,
And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it,
But it shall be for others.
No lion shall be there,
Nor shall any ravenous beast go up on it; It shall not be found there.
But the redeemed shall walk there,
And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, And come to Zion with singing,
With everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness, And sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
This chapter is a beautiful picture of the final Kingdom in which God will establish His justice and destroy all evil. This is the world the redeemed can anticipate after the judgement when creation itself will rejoice in God. It gives us a picture of the days when life will be peaceful at last and everything will be made right.

Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.
This is what we, as Christians, hold on tightly to when we find life tough. Rather than become discouraged, we focus our attention on what Jesus has purchased for us for all eternity!
