"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people's bones and all uncleanness. So you also outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
Matthew 23:27-28 ESV
Jesus uses very strong language to describe the Pharisees. Dead bones inside a seemingly beautiful coffin.
Let us not be like the Pharisees. Let us not appear outwardly righteous to others, but within, be lawless and hypocritical. Let us not be duplicitous.
If we are truly Christians who has had our wicked hearts changed due to the unfathomable power of the Holy Spirit, then let us act like what we are. If we are truly Christians that live to please God and not man, then let any false veil of outward piety be removed and let us solely please our Lord in all holiness.
Let us live for the Lord and Him alone.
For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Galatians 1:10 ESV
