"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."
Philippians 4:8 ESV
Christian, what do you think about on a day-to-day basis? When you have time to let your mind wander, where goes it go to?
Here are some of the things that many people think about consistently:
Whilst having a thought those things aren't necessarily wrong, it is not what Paul had in mind when writing his Epistle to the Philippians.
What Paul was referring to thinking about God, not selfishly thinkimg about yourself.
God is, after all, true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, of excellence and most definitely worthy of praise.
We are to think of God's Word, glory, power, majesty, wisdom, love, mercy, grace, holiness, kingdom, His work our lives, His work in the lives of our brethren and of course His amazing work on the cross.
Christian, with an endless list of attributes and works, fill your mind with the things of God today. Let us think about these things. To further actively assist our mind in doing so, we need to consistently read God's Word.
What you fill your mind with, is what you will think about.
