"Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love." -1 Corinthians 16:13-14
As Christians, our actions/choices we make each day should be done as a result of love.
It is important first that we understand what, where and who love comes from:
"So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother." -1 John 4:16-21
Now that we just read what love is and isn't, the next thing for us to understand is that the passage in 1 Corinthians 16:14 does not say, "let some that you do be done in love", rather, it says, "let ALL that you do be done in love".
It is so easy to walk away after reading your morning devotional and go straight back to doing everything in life the way you always have, but I challenge you today to walk away asking God to help you walk out your life in love.
Put in the effort in trying to improve the areas in which are lacking love. Whether that is to your friends, family, colleagues at work, the widow down the street, the homeless man you've walked past or the person in your life that is the hardest to show love to (whoever that may be).
Christ has given us His love, so why wouldn't we express the great love that He has gifted us?
It is encouraging to know that He who is love, first loved us so that we can now love others! Amen! All the glory goes to God for we could never truly love without His love being within us first.
