Matthew 6:19-21 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Here, the Bible tells us not to lay up treasures for ourselves in this life, but for the next, as this life is just temporary. It's interesting where it says that our hearts will be wherever our treasure is. We need to make sure that our hearts are on Him and not on worldly materials.
Psalms 144:4 says "Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow."
This life here is very short so we should not live our best life now, no, we must live this life for God and lay up our treasures in Heaven.
I personally like to think of it this way: this life now is like a camping ground for a short period of time, awaiting for the time when God calls us to pack up our tent and come home to His Kingdom.
