“You shall not circulate a false report. Do not put your hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness. You shall not follow a crowd to do evil; nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after many to pervert justice. You shall not show partiality to a poor man in his dispute.
“If you meet your enemy’s ox or his donkey going astray, you shall surely bring it back to him again. If you see the donkey of one who hates you lying under its burden, and you would refrain from helping it, you shall surely help him with it.
“You shall not pervert the judgment of your poor in his dispute. Keep yourself far from a false matter; do not kill the innocent and righteous. For I will not justify the wicked.
And you shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the discerning and perverts the words of the righteous.
“Also you shall not oppress a stranger, for you know the heart of a stranger, because you were strangers in the land of Egypt.
You shall not circulate a false report: Do not put your hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.
You shall not follow a crowd to do evil, nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside to pervert justice. You shall not show partiality to a poor man in his dispute.
God says He will not justify the wicked.
Even if you do not initiate a lie, you become responsible if you pass it along. Don`t circulate rumours, squelch them!
Yes Lord, what utter destruction and chaos lies can cause, even dividing families.
(God unites not divides, although division will come as you choose to follow Jesus and live a life that`s pleasing to Him. Those who don`t choose to follow Jesus will not like or understand your position in Jesus! But still we follow Him!)
Withstand the pressure of the crowd to sway your decision about a person. Let the fairness God shows to each of us guide our judgment. Amen.
Luke 10:30-37 read this story of the Good Samaritan.
Jesus teaches clearly here that we are to reach out to people in need, even and especially to our enemies - those we don’t necessarily want to help.
Following the law of right living is hard enough, even with friends!
When we apply God`s Laws of fairness and kindness to our enemies, we show how different we are from the world.
You shall not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do according to their works; but you shall utterly overthrow them and completely break down their sacred pillars.
“So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.
We live among neighbours whose values may be completely different from ours. We are called to maintain a lifestyle that shows our faith. This can be a struggle, especially if our Christian lifestyle differs from the norm, as it should.
Our lives should demonstrate that obeying God takes precedence over conforming to our neighbour's way of life.
God`s Word, not society, dictates how we should live. Hallelujah!!
