“For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, Blessed is the man who trusts in You!” -Psalms 84:11-12
God blesses those who trust in Him and walk according to His Word.
“I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.” -Psalms 119:15-16
When we fix our eyes upon Jesus and truly love Him, we will be walking in obedience.
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” -John 14:15
In today’s society it is far too easy for us to get sidetracked, reading our bibles less often, getting into more secular things such as music and worldly movies, and we slowly fall away from Christ.
The reality is, once the world takes place in your heart, you will turn away from what you used to believe was right and wrong.
We start to support evil trends and wicked things people are doing that are morally wrong, even practicing/supporting things such as divorce, transgender and homosexuality and yet call ourselves Christians and think that we are living for God. Those are some sure signs of being blind.
When we take our eyes off of Jesus and onto the world, our faith starts to be compromised and it leads us down a track of disobedience to God.
We must remember to keep our eyes upon Jesus, keep our mind steadfast in His Word and be a great example of His love. He blesses us when we are walking uprightly - righteous people in Christ.
An old hymn came to mind today when I wrote this devotional, which was written by Helen Lemmel.
“Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full, in his wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of his glory and grace…”
