Feeding the Four Thousand
In those days, the multitude being very great and having nothing to eat, Jesus called His disciples to Him and said to them, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat. And if I send them away hungry to their own houses, they will faint on the way; for some of them have come from afar.”
Then His disciples answered Him, “How can one satisfy these people with bread here in the wilderness?”
The disciples wondered, “How can He feed four thousand with such a small amount of food?”
How could they have already forgotten that Jesus had done this before, in their presence? You would think they`d automatically know that Jesus can do this as they had witnessed Him feeding five thousand, (mostly Jews) before. The four thousand were mostly (non Jews).
Jesus has compassion on all people!
It shows you how our human nature works. When we are in the flesh and thinking according to the flesh, we can`t imagine a miracle.
Any wonder we are told in Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
So He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. And He took the seven loaves and gave thanks, broke them and gave them to His disciples to set before them; and they set them before the multitude.
We see from this particular verse how Jesus gave thanks to God for blessing them with food.
We too, need to always remember to give thanks to God for supplying all our needs each time we sit down to eat, realising that He is our provider - the source of every blessing!
Let your gratefulness to God be genuine! Hallelujah!
The Pharisees Seek a Sign. Verse 11. Then the Pharisees came out and began to dispute with Him, seeking from Him a sign from heaven, testing Him.
Hearts can become so hard that even the most convincing facts and demonstrations will not change them.
Just as yeast makes dough rise, so evil can make people rise up against the truth. Jesus is the truth.
I have noticed that when you talk to some professing Christians about living in the truth of God`s Word, they rise up in anger, just as God`s Word says they will!
How you hate honest judges! How you despise people who tell the truth!
2 Thessalonians 2:10-12
Because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Don't have a hard heart. Be open to Jesus. Let Him soften your heart. Remain open to His Word which is the truth.
