Let your speech at all times be gracious and pleasant, seasoned with salt, so that you will know how to answer each one [who questions you].
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.
I have been learning this very important lesson this week. The Holy Spirit has been making me aware of the consequences of the words that I speak, although to me at the time the words seemed innocent enough and I certainly don't speak with an intent to hurt anyone, but as this verse in Colossians points out, our words are to be gracious and pleasant, seasoned with salt.
It has come to my attention that a couple of people very dear to me have been upset by the words that I have spoken to them.
God already knows the consequences of harsh words, they can hurt a person very deeply, even though that isn't your intention.
I must make things right with my dearly beloved.
Thank God that He has made a way out for us when we make mistakes. All we need to do is humble ourselves, acknowledge our wrong and apologise to make it right again.
I am so grateful to my God that He loves me enough to chastise me and let me know when I have wronged someone, and gives me the ability to make it right again.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
