“No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him.” 2 Timothy 2:4 ESV
The one who enlisted us is God.
Our sole aim, as soldiers, is to please God by bringing glory to Jesus Christ.
Let us remember this is our goal, our objective, our vision, our mission, our sole purpose in this life and the next.
A true valiant soldier fights not for his own desires and glory, but for whom the soldier has sworn undiverted allegiance to. For this reason, if the soldier’s name gets tarnished whether through false rumours or true shame, he cares not. He cares only for the name of who he fights for.
If the Lord’s name gets lifted, the soldier rejoices. If the Lord’s name receives dishonour, oh, how the soldier’s heart breaks.
Christians, are we not soldiers for Christ? If many past warriors are willing to fight and die for their king, shall we not do the same?
Let us keep in mind, our God is the King of kings and Lord of lords.
